  According to Wikipedia Health "Women's Health Initiative (WHI) was initiated by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in 1991. The objective of this initiative for women's health research was to conduct medical research in some of the major health problems of older women. In particular, clinical trials designed and funded that addressed cardiovascular disease, cancer and osteoporosis. "Why these three diseases selected for this research program? Because they are the most common causes of death, disability and poor quality of life in postmenopausal women. This 15-year program consisted of a set of clinical trials and an observational study involving 161,808 postmenopausal women in general good health in the age ranges from 50 to 79 years. The strategy was to focus on prevention of heart disease, breast cancer, colorectal cancer and osteoporosis in menopausal women.There three categories of the WHI study and clinical observation study.Namely: Hormone Replacement Therapy. (HRT), diet ModificationCalcium / vitamin D Therapy.Hormone replacement TherapyThis category focuses on the effect of heart disease and osteoporosis and associated risks for breast cancer. Participants take hormone pills or test results placebo.For WHI estrogen plus progestin vs. placebo Official visit of the American Medical Association (JAMA). ModificationThe dietary approach for this category is the assessment of the effects of a low-fat, fruit, vegetables and grains in your diet to prevent breast cancer, colorectal cancer and heart disease participants follow a normal diet or diet low . Calcium fat program / Vitamin ProgramThe participants in this program not start until 2 years after having been in one or both of the other two programs. This category evaluates the effect of calcium and vitamin D in preventing osteoporosis-related fractures and colorectal cancer cancer.The participants taking calcium and vitamin D or placebo.According to the National Conference of State Legislators, some legislators state are responding to the various health needs of women through legislative action.States are the creation of committees and working groups with specific attention to the statements of women have health.Seventeen Task Force or Commission. These states are Alabama, California, Delaware, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Rhode Island, Maryland, Missouri, Virginia and Tennessee.The Florida, Illinois and Maine have a staff officer responsible for coordinating women's health and services. The state functions initiatives include: Development of programs on women's health issues.To policy guidance, governors, Department of Health or the State Legislators.To serve as a resource and a source of information on health issues.There Women are other programs to promote women's health such as: Women's Health Research at Yale University. This is an interdisciplinary research program established in 1998.
